I was recently contacted by the Pilmeny Youth Centre in Edinburgh regarding their new project entitled Remembering the Leith Battalion – Gretna 1915-2015. Their younger members, as well as local High School students, are doing their bit to make their community aware of the tragic events that took place at Quintinshill in May 1915. The Centre’s Bryan Maughan mentioned to me that many of the rail crash casualties were from the surrounding streets of Leith, and that the TA Drill hall located next to the centre was used to lay out the dead prior to burial.

I encourage you to visit their Facebook page to learn more about their project and to share any research that may be of benefit.
