A period postcard showing Kitchener’s new recruits at camp somewhere in England

When this group of volunteers, the majority of whom are wearing civilian clothes, were photographed is unknown. The image is not sharp enough to reveal the cap badge on the officer standing in front however I was able to make out the banners on the large tent in the background. The left-hand banner reads “Refreshments” while the one on the right reads “YMCA Reading & Writing Marquee“.
