Punch, the London-based satirical magazine, published some wonderful cartoons during the First World War, including this water-logged trench sketch that appeared in the Jan. 31st 1917 issue. The period advertisements also feature some wonderful illustrations.

Over the past year I’ve posted examples of these on Tumblr however I’ve added a few more, over 50 images in fact, to a WW1 Punch set on Flickr. All of the images in this set date from between 1914 and 1918.
