George Eccles Bulleid was born in Plumstead, Kent, England on November 6, 1899. He arrived in Canada on October 20, 1912 and went to live with his married sister in Smith Falls, Ontario.
He attested on September 22, 1914 at Valcartier and stated his birthdate as October 6, 1895. He joined the 42nd (Lanark and Renfrew) Regiment on August 12, 1914 but was transferred to the 2nd Battalion when he attested for overseas service at Valcartier Camp. The battalion sailed for England on October 3 as part of the First Canadian Contingent.
On February 9, 1915 George was transferred to the Base Coy before joining the 2nd Battalion in France on March 22, 1915. He was reported missing during the Second Battle of Ypres, at some point between April 22 and April 26. His body was never recovered although for official purposes he was presumed killed in action on April 22, 1915. George is remembered on the Menin Gate (Ypres) Memorial.

On his attestation papers George claimed to be born on October 6, 1895, however a birth certificate, on an Ancestry family tree, clearly shows he was born on November 6, 1899.
